RE:PLAY

Debuted June 20, 2019 as part of the Revolution Series, Season 2018-19

A live performance with dead artists
The greatest musical artists who passed away are resurrected in mesmerizing video art combined with live orchestra music. A group of composers created works that bring together their sources of inspiration, two musicians who have never met on one stage – Freddie Mercury and Luciano Pavarotti, Jimi Hendrix and Jacqueline du Pre, John Lennon and Glenn Gould, Astor Piazzolla and Edith Piaf, Billie Holiday and Amy Winehouse, Marvin Gaye and Yehudi Menuhin.

Through the combination of video & sound samples and new orchestral music, a fascinating dialogue arises between the past and the future that breaches the borders of the existing genres.

The show was first performed on November 4, 2014, as part of the 30th year celebrations of the Tel Aviv Center for the Performing Arts
Composers: Zohar Sharon, Amir Lekner, Ofir Bar-On, Tomer Bar, Orit Gur’el and Ariel Blumenthal Video-Art: Asaf Rinsky – CHNNLS, Nimrod Zin
