The Revolution Orchestra’s children’s performance takes the beloved classic Peter and the Wolf and brings it to life with new colors, new sounds, and a surprising perspective.
Part One
Peter and the Wolf by Sergei Prokofiev
An unconventional rendition of the iconic masterpiece, combining the live performance of the orchestra with a screening of Suzie Templeton’s award-winning stop-motion animation film, recipient of the 2008 Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. In this version, there is no narrator; the film itself tells the story, reintroducing the characters — Peter, the Wolf, the Bird, the Duck, and the Cat — through a contemporary, poetic, and touching lens.
Part Two
A new composition commissioned especially for this production, offering an original and humorous dialogue with Peter and the Wolf — this time told from the Wolf’s own point of view. This playful re-imagining, written by Ephraim Sidon (text) and Rafi Kadishzon (music and arrangement), blends live orchestra and narration, classical tradition and modern satire, the boy and the wolf — both a little heroic, a little mischievous, and a little like all of us.
The performance was created especially for the Israel Festival 2010, in a joint production by The Revolution Orchestra and Holon Mediatech.
Running time: approximately one hour.
Recommended for ages 7 and up.
