Playing with the Master | A gala concert marking the America-Israel Cultural Foundation’s 80th year | Debuted at Heichal Hatarbut, Tel Aviv, Dec. 2, 2019
The America-Israel Cultural Foundation (AICF) contacted the Revolution Orchestra and commissioned an original work to open the festive gala evening marking 80 years of the foundation’s activity.
The work was dedicated to violinist Pinchas Zukerman, who at the age of fourteen was granted the support of the foundation towards studying at the world-renowned Juilliard School in New York.
The uniqueness of the work involves the integration of video clips sampled from the documentary film Pinchas Zukerman: Here to Make Music (An Allegro Film by Christopher Nupen, 1975). The clips were sampled in video and audio and became musical raw materials that were integrated into an original musical composition as a kind of additional instrument.
The work was created by composer, arranger, and violinist Avner Kelmer (member of the “Alon Eder and Band” ensemble) and the video art was created by Nimrod Zin.
Alongside a mosaic of videos that will accompany the show, the orchestra will be joined by seven solo artists who will express the unique theater and movement world of the Roosters, and by the children of the Efroni Choir who will celebrate the mischievous word-play of its songs
