Conductor and Artistic Director

Roy Oppenheim

Roy Oppenheim is a conductor, creator, and educator, and one of the driving artistic forces behind Israel’s contemporary orchestral scene.

As co-founder and co-artistic director of The Revolution Orchestra, he has redefined the role of the conductor – not only as an interpreter, but also as a storyteller and creative partner. Oppenheim holds a PhD in the philosophy of education from the Hebrew University and a Master’s degree in conducting from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. He heads the Department of Contemporary Composition for Film and Stage at the Rimon School of Music, and teaches at Tel Aviv University’s Faculty of Arts, and has previously served as resident conductor of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. A recipient of the Riccardo Muti Conducting Award (2004) and the Rosenblum Award for Excellence in Stage Arts (2024), Roy continues to lead innovative interdisciplinary projects that merge music with theatre, movement, and cinema, inviting audiences to experience orchestral art in new and unexpected ways.
