The Revolution Orchestra
The Revolution Orchestra is a composing and performing musical entity – a creative playground for original orchestral music combined with other art forms. The Orchestra's multi-disciplinary musical projects test the limits of music and its relationship with other arts, and present a new orchestral format, exciting and inspiring. The Orchestra was founded in 2004 and has since performed at the leading venues in Israel and abroad and collaborated with front-line composers and artists. The Orchestra is a registered NGO under the artistic directorship of conductor Ro'i Oppenheim and composer Zohar Sharon and is supported by the Ministry of Culture and the Tel-Aviv/Yafo Municipality. Starting from the 2017/18 subscription season, The orchestra is the artistic director of the Revolution Series at the Opera House – Tel Aviv's center of performing arts under the auspices of the Israeli Opera and with the support of 'Sano – Diti and Alex Landsberg'
ROY OPPENHEIM, PHD
CONDUCTOR AND ARTISTIC DIRECTOR.
Conductor and educator. Roy holds a P.hD. in philosophy and education from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as a Master’s Degree in Conducting from the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance. Co-founder and co-artistic director of the "Revolution Orchestra", Roy also serves as the musical director and conductor of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra. He also serves as musical director and conductor of the "Classic Rock" and "Revolution” series at the Israeli Opera House. Roy studied composition with Prof. Yitzhak Sadai and conducting with Prof. Mandy Roden. Winner of the 2004 Ricardo Moti award for conducting, Roy has conducted the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Haifa Symphony Orchestra, Rishon Le-Zion Symphony, Jerusalem Camerata, Be'er Sheva Symphony, Tel Aviv Chamber Orchestra, Raanana Symphony and others. Roy is a graduate of the Hoffman Leadership and Social Responsibility Fellowship Program for doctoral candidates at the Hebrew University, and he lectures on various the Philosophy of Music, Aesthetics, Hermeneutics and Philosophy of Education at the Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University and the Technion. Roy commanded an airborne reconnaissance unit, where he continues to serve in his reserve duty.
Omer Lackner Reichental
is the CEO of the Revolution Orchestra since 2019. He holds a B.F.A. in Cinema & Television from the Tel Aviv University Arts Department and is a graduate of the Lahav School of Management program for management of culture & art institutions at Tel Aviv University. For two and a half decades, he served as the head producer of "Herzliya Studios", "Gil Productions", and documentary and doco-reality manager at "Kastina Communications". As part of these positions, he steered leading prime-time programs, including Master Chef, Dancing with the Stars, Baby Boom, Super Nanny, Shark Tank, Undercover Boss, Trip After the Army, Come Eat with Me, Shorts, Fisfusim
Composer, educator, Artistic Director
is a founding member and co-artistic director of the “Revolution Orchestra”, and has composed new works for the orchestra since its inception. In 2012 Zohar was the winner of the Prime Minister’s prize for composition as well as of the National Lottery’s "Classilike" competition for composing children's orchestral work. After graduating from the Jerusalem University with honors, Zohar went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree and Master's degree at the Jerusalem Academy of Music and Dance, where he was named “Dean’s Scholar” in the department of composition, and is now Lecturer of Music. He also graduated with honor from the Jerusalem University’s Department of Political Science. A composer and arranger for various ensembles and across a broad spectrum of styles, Zohar’s works have been performed by the leading orchestras and chamber music ensembles in Israel.
