A sweeping musical-textual journey with Hahazer Haahorit Band
A show that combines orchestral adaptations of the songs of Hahazer Haahorit – Yankele Rotblit, Tomer Yosef, Gadi Ronen, and Itamar Zigler – rock protest songs that deal with the political and social reality in Israel. A daring original work was commissioned for this concert. Composer Nadav Vikinski wrote for the poet (Yankele Rotblit), orchestra, and the Bat Shir Choir of the Haifa Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Tali Weisman. This work is a sweeping musical-textual journey that swings between extremes and is based on Rotblit’s razor-sharp texts that deliver a direct kick to Israeli society’s most sensitive places, slaughtering sacred cows like religion & state, occupation, disregard for the environment, and more, one after the other. Sections of some of Rotblit’s well-known songs, such as Café Turki, Ima Adama, Ro’im Rahok Ro’im Shakuf, and Sof Lasipur, are interwoven in the work.
